After The Cheese is Gone: Childhood Traumatic and Dramatic Events.

The raisins all stuck and dry like a wasicu who tans
Too much
Uptight raisins

Dem white girls raisins were really good, for reals
The kind from stores
I heard

Peanuts that had to be salted
Salt wouldn’t stick
Salting them all day

Peanut butter with oil on top
Drain it they said
It will be alright

Mixed in a bowl with clear corn syrup
Spread over skillet bread
Or eaten with fingers

Farina with too many lumps
Its good for you grandma said
Eat it with a fork

No grape juice or orange or apple only grapefruit
Put some sugar in it
Uncle said

Eggs like they serve at day school
Better than that even
auntie said

Then a big wind came
And blew the eggs away

Next month is cheese month
They said
Remember to cut it so no one steals it
