On June 7, 2013 there will be a picnic to honor the life of Lyle Eagle Tail.  I spoke with a member of the Dakota 38 group who is putting this picnic on.

“We are not doing this for recognition, we are doing this for Lyle.  He lived and died a warrior and we are honoring that. ”

The fact that so many of us are so proud that Lyle embraced the true values of how our warriors lived by sacrificing his life for a six year old child he didn’t know is a given.  We are proud to show this state, this country, and the people that most of the time all you hear about us in the news is bad news.  However, this is one of the times the news was positive, yet heartbreaking.

Lyle deserves to be remembered.  His story will be told by my children to their children and so on.

However the group fears that donations are falling short and they will not have enough to feed everyone.  They will take any kinds of donations for the picnic, which they are expecting about 100 people, however I think there will be more.

If anyone would like to donate, even plates, napkins etc, please call Valerie Weddell at 605-214-9085.

Let us come together and honor our fallen warrior.

The picnic will be at the shelter on June 7th starting at 10 am.  This is the first time the city of Sioux Falls let this kind of gathering happen at Falls Park.
